Some women, however, are new to the wonders of hair coloring and don’t have a clear idea of how the hair will change after coloring and how to properly take care of it to get the most out of their purchase.
Moisturize!!
Whenever you color your hair extensions, the hair is no longer virgin and will require more care. Just like with your natural hair when it has been chemically processed, conditioning is even more important. Plan to conditioner wash frequently and deep condition at least every other week to keep the hair from appearing dry and feeling brittle. Always remember to use a high quality sulfate free hair care product to keep your hair hydrated and moisturized.
Keep chemicals & heat to a minimum
Bleaching your hair extensions may result in slight texture changes, so you may see a difference in the curl pattern after you’ve lightened your hair which may or may not decrease the luster of the hair. To restore the shine, silkiness, and luster after bleaching apply a clear rinse to the hair. Lastly, after you color your hair extensions, the use of heat may stress the hair even more; so try not to use your curling and flat irons daily if you plan to wear your hair extensions through multiple installations. Whenever you do curl or flat iron the hair, be sure to apply a heat protectant to protect your tresses.
